The Babolat Pure Aero summed up in one word, SPIN. The Aero line of rackets was originally designed by Babolat for and with Rafael Nadal in 2004 so that he could produce the maximum amount of spin on each shot. Born from the Pure Drive family of rackets, a revolutionary new Aeromodular throat beam design was developed and added. The end result was a racket that has had balls kicking up high above opponents heads ever since.

With the amount of success the Pure Aero racket has achieved, it’s no surprise that with each new generation Babolat opts for evolution versus revolution. Those already familiar with the previous Pure Aero iteration will feel right at home given that the spec’s of the racket have not changed. We did find that this new version has softened up the feel slightly, giving us faint flashbacks of the legendary AeroPro Drive from 2013. Apart from that, this Pure Aero continues to be a rock solid, 300g spin spin beast from the baseline, while offering a surprising amount of feel at net. A racket that in the hands of a legend like Rafa becomes unplayable, but also easy enough for us mere mortals of varying skill levels to use, it is easily one of the must try rackets on the market.
